
Got moves? Always wanted to dance for a professional team? The Bay Area Shuckers Professional Basketball Team is looking for the best dancers in the area for our 2012-2013 Dance Team!
Auditions are set for Sunday, October 14th from 9:30 AM to 1 PM at Genesis Arts located at 8940-A Route 108, Columbia, Maryland 21045. Registration will take place from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM and then warm-up/choreography will start promptly at 10:00 AM. Dancers should wear sports bra or tank top, dance shorts, and dance shoes. Also please bring a non-returnable photograph/headshot. There is a $30 (cash and credit card only) registration fee for the tryout. Dancers may also pre-register below for the discounted rate of $25.
Also, on Wednesday, October 10th the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team will hold a Prep Class from 7:00 PM -8:30 PM. The Prep Class will cover the audition process, audition attire, and practice technique and choreography. The cost of the Prep Class is $25. You may pre-register below or pay cash the night of the class. Dancers who attend the Prep Class WILL NOT BE CHARGED A FEE for the audition on October 14th. The Prep Class will also take place at Geneses Arts.

Is there an age limit?
There is no maximum age limit.
Minimum age requirement is 18 years of age by October 10, 2012.
Are there any height to weight restrictions?
You should be in overall great shape. We do not have a height to weight requirement. We have no maximum or minimum weight requirement.
Are auditions open to the public?
Auditions are closed to the public. This includes family and friends.
What do I need for auditions?
Please bring with you:

On Sunday, 10/14/2012. Notification will be following audition and judge deliberations. Candidates must stay to hear results and for photo taken of Dance Team members.

Q: What type of style dancers are the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team?
A: The Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team is more dance oriented with an emphasis on jazz and hip hop. Some dancers perform more technical dance skills such as advanced turns and leaps, but it is encouraged that all dancers have their splits and be able to high kick for our kick line routines.
Q: Does the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team get paid?
A: The Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team does not receive a paycheck, but does receive two free tickets to every home game.
Q: Where does the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team practice?
A: The Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team holds their practices at Genesis Arts, LLC in Columbia, MD on Sundays from 10am-2pm.
Q: What is the time requirement for the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team? (i.e. practices, appearances, games, etc.)?
A: Being a member of the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team is a huge time commitment. Before the season even starts we will be having practices once a week as well as community appearances. We have several home games, which are usually held on Saturday evenings. On game day, all dancers are expected to arrive an hour and a half before tip-off. A large part of being a Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team member is our commitment to the community. Attending appearances is mandatory.
Q: Do the dancers pay for their uniforms?
A: The uniforms and poms are on loan to each dancer. The dancers will have to provide for their earrings, boots, dance sneakers and practice gear.
